Our vision is to have an oil and gas secure Malawi.

We are the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) Limited, wholly owned by the Government of Malawi. Formed in line with the National Energy Policy of January 2003, NOCMA was registered on 14^thDecember 2010 under the companies Act of 1984.

Our head office is in Kang’ombe House in City Centre in Malawi’s capital Lilongwe. We also have offices at our strategic fuel reserves in Lilongwe,Blantyre, Karonga and Mzuzu,and at Mwanza border post. We also have operations through an agent at Songwe border to handle incoming fuel tankers.

Importation

We import fuel through the ports of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Beira and Nacala in Mozambique. We engage fuel suppliers on Ex-tank and Delivered Duty Unpaid arrangements.

Oil and Gas exploration

We are currently involved in government-led preparatory work for oil and gas exploration activities.

Storage

In the country, we store our fuel at the strategic fuel reserves located in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu.Lilongwe and Blantyre depots have 25 million litre storage capacity each while Mzuzu depot can store up to 10 million litres of fuel.

Projects

We have several projects at the strategic fuel reserves. These include the rail siding project at Lilongwe and Blantyre depot and the strategic fuel reserve expansion project.

Distribution

We distribute fuel to various sectors of the country’s economy through our customers who fall into two main categories – oil marketing companies and organisations that get the product for their use.
