In recognition of these realities, the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) recently conducted a comprehensive Mental Health Awareness programme for members of staff across all its depots nationwide.
The sessions were led by renowned mental health expert, Chipolata Bandawe, who guided staff through insightful discussions on stress management, emotional resilience, work-life balance, and the importance of seeking professional support when needed.
Held at every NOCMA depot, the interactive sessions provided a safe and supportive platform for employees to openly share their experiences and challenges. Staff members engaged in candid conversations about workplace stress, personal wellbeing, and practical coping strategies, fostering a culture of openness and mutual support.
Speaking during the sessions, Prof. Bandawe emphasized that mental health is just as important as physical safety in high-demand industries such as Oil and Gas. He encouraged employees to prioritize self-care, maintain strong support systems, and actively seek help when feeling overwhelmed.
