Held under the African Union theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” the celebrations were domesticated into the local theme: “Strengthening the Water–Energy–Climate Nexus for a Resilient Malawi.”
The commemorations took place over two days, beginning on Saturday, 24 May 2026 at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) – Bunda Campus, and concluding on Monday, 25 May 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.During the official Government commemorations at BICC, presided over by Minister of Natural Resources, Honourable Patricia Wiskes, NOCMA maintained a strong and outstanding presence that attracted positive recognition from both organizers and participants.
A total of eleven NOCMA employees from Head Office and Lilongwe Depot attended the event, showcasing the Company’s unity, professionalism, and commitment to national events.
The celebrations featured cultural performances, exhibitions celebrating Africa’s heritage and innovation, and networking opportunities among Government institutions, development partners, diplomatic missions, and private sector organizations.NOCMA’s branding and corporate visibility at the event were widely appreciated, further strengthening the Company’s reputation as a dependable and professional corporate partner.
Despite the success, the Company encountered several challenges, including short notice regarding participation and late requests for sponsorship support while the event was already underway. Nevertheless, NOCMA remained fully present and actively participated throughout the commemorations.
Following the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation commended NOCMA for its seriousness and professionalism in event participation and branding. The Ministry further indicated that NOCMA will henceforth be included in the organizing committee for future Africa Day commemorations and related national functions.The development presents an important opportunity for the Company to contribute during the planning stages of future events while further enhancing its corporate visibility and stakeholder engagement.
