In May this year, we donated MK10, 000, 000.00 (ten million kwacha) to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR0 to help in national surveillance and testing of Covid-19.

The funds were aimed at helping LUANAR use its biotechnology laboratory as a Covid-19 testing centre.

The ten million kwacha from NOCMA went towards LUANAR’s eighteen million kwacha budget to enable the institution turn the laboratory into a Covid-19 testing centre.

As NOCMA, we are concerned about the impact of Covid-19 on the country’s economy and development. For this reason, we decided to respond to LUANAR’s request for financial assistance to help enhance the national COVID-19 response capacity by enabling the institution run a testing centre.

When we made the donation, it was hoped that more Covid-19 testing centres would help the country in its efforts to arrest the further spread of the pandemic which has claimed many lives globally.
